Department of Physiology at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University, is dedicated to advancing the understanding of physiology through excellence in education of medical and graduate students, performing innovative research, and translating scientific progress into clinical practice. The department delivers foundational instruction in integrative physiology to medical, dental, nursing, and graduate learners and offers a Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences that prepares graduates for leadership roles in academia, research, government, industry, and medicine.
Job Duties- Deliver live and recorded lectures supporting teaching in the M.D., D.M.D., M.S., and/or Ph.D. programs.
- Assist in administering flipped classrooms and review sessions in the M.D. and/or Ph.D. programs.
- Provide individualized academic support to students during established office hours.
- Develop and maintain clinical vignette‑style problems to support practice and assessment question banks in the M.D. program.
- Provide tutoring and study process guidance to students.
- Support administration and secure review of assessments in the M.D. program.
- Contribute to teaching and administrative duties in pathway programs such as the Summer Program for Future Doctors (SPFD), which previews the M.D. curriculum to help prepare future medical students.
- Support foundational science teaching in the D.M.D. program (School of Dental Medicine) and in health professional programs across the College of Allied Health and School of Nursing.
- Participate in ongoing curriculum development across professional degree programs.
- Develop and contribute to scholarship in medical and science education.
- Contribute to teaching in the Physiology Ph.D. program and participate in student advisory committees.

Minimum Education /ExperienceCandidates must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or D.V.M.) or completed foreign medical education accepted in a relevant foundational science field from an accredited institution.
- Successful candidate should demonstrate broad content expertise in one or more physiological systems.
- Level of appointment determined based on experience.
All degrees must be conferred by appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Experience , Skills, Training/Education- Experience teaching at the medical, graduate, or undergraduate level.
