Position: Assistant Dean of the College of Business Thomas D. Arthur Graduate School of Business

The College of Business is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Dean of the College of Business Thomas

D. Arthur Graduate School. The Assistant Dean must be an effective leader, an accomplished and enthusiastic teacher and scholar, and have a strategic understanding of how to effectively grow and develop the newly endowed Thomas

D. Arthur Graduate School.

Responsibilities include administrative and academic leadership; support for excellence in graduate education and curricula changes; scholarly contributions; promotion of graduate students and co-curricular activities; providing service to a range of internal and external constituents; fundraising opportunities and donor relations; and strategic planning consistent with the Thomas

D. Arthur Graduate School expectations. The Assistant Dean also promotes accountability through assurance of learning and accreditation maintenance.

The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of the College and is expected to work effectively with academic deans, directors, department chairs, faculty and staff. The Assistant Dean works closely with the College of Business Graduate Programs with an enrollment of 800+ graduate students in the MBA, MSA, and MS degrees.

Assistant Dean is responsible for:
  • Graduate Programs Leadership: The Assistant Dean interfaces with college deans, department chairs, faculty and coordinates with other graduate programs across the University to identify, develop and offer engaging curricula that meet evolving business needs. The Assistant Dean will supervise the Executive Director of the College of Business Graduate Programs.
  • Military Community Support: The Assistant Dean serves as the primary point of contact for veterans, service members, and their families who are enrolled and participating in graduate business programs. The Assistant Dean helps students understand and pursue various funding sources; collaborates with offices across campus to enhance students’ experience; and develops student engagement opportunities related to various aspects of military life, such as transitioning to the collegiate environment after military service, support networks for military students, and involving the military family in collegiate life.
  • Program Monitoring and Evaluations: The Assistant Dean proactively prepares, evaluates, and disseminates data pertaining to the graduate programs and their effectiveness. This includes preparation, statistical analysis, interpretation of survey instruments and oversees continuous review of Arthur School graduate programs and certificates . These reports are an essential aspect of program evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: The Assistant Dean leads efficiency initiatives in the Arthur Graduate School office.
  • Student Recruitment and Retention: The Assistant Dean develops and executes student recruitment and retention activities, relationship management and support of current student population, and other activities as appropriate. Some travel is required.
  • Fund Raising and Event Planning: The Assistant Dean prepares and executes graduate programming events, such as the annual IMBA Events, Emerging Leader Experience, Arthur Teaching Fellows presentations, etc. The Assistant Dean identifies and investigates new and high-impact opportunities for Graduate Programs and is expected to collaborate closely with the College of Business leadership and the Director of Outreach on donor relations, including maintaining regular communication with donors and the advisory board.
  • Student Development: The Assistant Dean plans and executes student development programs and activities that are academic and/or co-curricular in nature.
  • Communications: The Assistant Dean takes a comprehensive approach to communicating with various stakeholders. This includes establishing and maintaining program contact and tracking of alumni.
  • Other duties as assigned: Some after-hours and weekend work is required. The Assistant Dean serves on College of Business and University committees as appropriate. Some evening and weekend duties and responsibilities accompany this position as directed by the Dean.
