Overview
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) at East Carolina University seeks a full-time (12‑month) fixed‑term faculty member at the Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor or Teaching Professor level to support medical and graduate education. The educational focus of BSOM includes significant contributions to teaching and administration in the MD program; the DMD program in the School of Dental Medicine;
and graduate‑level courses in the Biomedical Sciences MS and PhD programs in BSOM.
- Deliver live and recorded lectures to support teaching in the MD, MS, and PhD programs.
- Assist in the administration of flipped classrooms and review sessions in the MD program.
- Provide individualized support to students.
- Contribute to writing USMLE‑style clinical vignette problems to maintain practice and assessment question banks in the MD program.
- Provide content tutoring and study process support to students in partnership with the BSOM Office of Student Success and Wellness.
- Assist in the administration and secure review of assessments in the MD program.
- Contribute to teaching and administration of other pathway programs including the Summer Program for Future Doctors (SPFD), which provides a condensed preview of the MD curriculum to assist in the preparation of students for medical school.
- Contribute to foundational science teaching activities in the DMD program in the ECU School of Dental Medicine and in health professional programs in the College of Allied Health and School of Nursing.
- Contribute to ongoing curriculum development in the various professional degree programs.
- Develop and contribute to opportunities for scholarship in learning and education.

QualificationsMinimum Education/Experience PhD, MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of North Carolina. Board Certified or eligible for board certification. Experience with teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. The level of appointment will be determined by the candidate's experience level. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
