DescriptionGreenville Utilities, a progressive electric, gas, water, and sewer utility company, is offering an opportunity for an Energy Services Specialist within the Customer Relations Department. The successful applicant will be responsible for administering various residential, commercial, and industrial energy services programs; conducting in-field quality‑control analysis of residential and commercial structures to evaluate energy efficiency; recommending energy conservation, energy management, and building science strategies to the owner/occupant;
assisting customers with high bill concerns; performing ACCA Manual-J heat loss/gain calculations; sizing heating/cooling equipment; preparing clear and concise customer reports; conducting workshops and seminars on energy efficiency; calculating rate comparisons and projections; providing the general public with operating cost analyses and cost‑efficient comparisons, and energy conservation information through the media.
Under general supervision, administer various residential, commercial, and industrial energy services programs; conduct in-field quality‑control analysis of residential and commercial structures to evaluate energy efficiency; recommend energy conservation, energy management, and building science strategies to the owner/occupant; perform related work as required.
Administer both the energy‑efficient building award program (E-300) and/or the residential and commercial energy survey program (ESP).
The E-300 program responsibilities include consulting and advising builders on the latest building science and energy conservation measures for new construction; performing ACCA Manual-J heat loss/gain calculations; sizing heating/cooling equipment; reading, evaluating, and recommending modifications to building plans and specifications; scheduling on‑site evaluations; preparing reports and newsletters; interpreting data and information for customers; planning and coordinating program related events and promotional activities;
performing infrared diagnostics, pressure diagnostics and blower door analysis.
The Energy Survey Program responsibilities include on‑site Class‑A Audits and encouraging energy conservation and improvements in existing residential and commercial structures; assisting customers with high bill concerns; performing ACCA Manual-J heat loss/gain calculations; sizing heating/cooling equipment; preparing clear and concise customer reports; conducting workshops and seminars on energy efficiency; calculating rate comparisons and projections; providing the general public with operating cost analyses and cost‑efficient comparisons, and energy conservation information through the media.
Attends seminars and workshops to stay abreast of new developments in the energy field; participates in Building Sciences related research projects as required; provides customer assistance to "walk‑ins" and responds to telephone inquiries in regard to problems, requests, general information, and concerns; performs other duties as required.
- Applicant must have a two-year associate's degree within a scientific discipline
- Over five years of experience
- Skill in the operations of computer equipment including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
- Ability to become ACCA Certified to the ACCA’s Manual-J, Manual-D, Manual-S, and Manual-P, or BPA Analyst or CEA
Normal work schedule is Monday ‒ Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
