The clinical intake specialist, level I, plays a critical role in the healthcare delivery process by serving as the first point of contact for patients seeking clinical services. This position is responsible for efficiently gathering and verifying patient information, assessing initial clinical needs, and facilitating smooth communication between patients and clinical teams. The specialist ensures that all intake procedures comply with regulatory standards and organizational policies, thereby supporting accurate and timely patient care coordination.

By managing patient records and scheduling appointments, the role contributes to optimizing clinical workflow and enhancing patient experience. Ultimately, the clinical intake specialist helps to create a welcoming and organized environment that supports effective clinical operations and positive health outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a clinical intake, medical office, or healthcare customer service role.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patient populations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or similar credential.
  • Experience working in behavioral health or specialty clinical settings.
  • Proficiency with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
  • Training or coursework in medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes.
Responsibilities

  • Verify patient eligibility and benefits with insurance providers to ensure coverage for requested services.
