Overview

East Carolina Anesthesia Associates is the premier anesthesia group in North Carolina and we want you to join our growing team! We are seeking ambitious and driven CRNAs to join our team at ECU Health due to facility and department expansions, including new ORs being added to the surgery center at ECU Health Surgicenter. This position provides anesthetics for all ECU Health Centers.

CRNAs manage all anesthetics with extreme autonomy, while practicing in an ACT setting. We offer high patient acuity allowing the new CRNA and/or experienced CRNA to fully implement their clinical skills and education, and continue to expand within any area of expertise that may be desired. CRNAs may choose to participate in the clinical instruction of anesthesia students via our on-campus program.

All surgical specialties are presented and all surgical procedures are performed excluding some transplants and extreme burn cases. It is the CRNA that manages all anesthetics; with encouraged and supported autonomy in practice.

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 and 10 hour shifts available w/ rotating call. Roughly one weekend call shift every 4-6 weeks and only on call for one weekend day not the entire weekend.

Salary: $200,000 starting and up to $255,000, not including any shift differentials, call or bonuses.

Signing Bonus: $70,000 for a 3-year service obligation / $45,000 for a 2-year service obligation. Students have the option to take their payments while in their program!

Job Summary

The CRNAs manages all anesthetics for ECU Health, a 900+ bed academic/tertiary care Level 1 Trauma Center located in our Greenville division, and will manage all anesthetics with encouraged and supported autonomy while practicing in an ACT setting. All surgical specialties and procedures are available and performed, excluding transplant procedures and extreme burn cases. The CRNA will use high patient acuity allowing the new and/or experienced CRNA to fully implement their clinical skills and education, and continue to expand within any area of expertise that may be desired.

CRNAs may choose to participate in the clinical instruction of anesthesia students via our on-campus program and partnership.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Examine patients’ history for allergies or illnesses that would affect anesthesia.
  • Evaluate and prepare patients, provide education about surgeries/procedures and recovery, and discuss possible side effects.
  • Liaise with other members of the healthcare team such as MDs, nurses, and other healthcare workers.
  • Determine appropriate amount, type, and method of anesthesia administration.
  • Perform anesthetics; administer medication to patients for pain relief.
  • Supervise and assist other CRNAs.
  • Oversee recovery and pain management of patients.
  • Inform patients of post-surgical and pain management procedures.
  • Assist in patient procedure preparation.
  • Provide support to other healthcare teams.
  • Advise patients on medication type and dosage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

Must be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, or in the process of completing the certification through an accredited CRNA program.

  • Current or compact RN license in the state of North Carolina, or able to obtain NC licensure.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to provide safe pre-and post-anesthetic care using innovative and proven techniques.
  • Ability to assess patients’ medical history and plan anesthesia administration for the best outcome.
  • High patient acuity with the ability to provide compassionate care to every patient.
  • Ability to work in a team, but also autonomously when needed.
  • Strong written and oral skills with the ability to communicate clearly under pressure.
