Education Nurse Specialist

Overview

The Education Nurse Specialist (ENS) is a registered professional nurse who provides safe, expedient, and cost-effective clinical education services to ensure quality patient outcomes.

• Design, implement and evaluate professional development programs aligned with organizational goals and strategic plan.
• Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements, including serving as a Nurse Planner for the ECU Health Approved Provider Unit.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate interprofessional education initiatives and programs aligned with organization goals and strategic plan.
• Evaluate data trends and outcomes to guide decision making about changes and improvements in nursing professional development.
• Lead nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
• Disseminate research and quality improvement findings through activities such as publication, presentations, and other scholarly work.
• Oversee nursing (experienced and nurse residents), international team members, and allied health professionals transition to practice and mentorship support.

• Master's degree or higher in nursing or adult education.
• Current North Carolina RN license.
• At least five years of health care experience including a minimum of two years of professional development and/or adult education experience.
• Must obtain Nursing Professional Development Certification within 3 years of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification.
