Position SummaryThe purpose of this position is to provide leadership that is focused on and dedicated to one YFC high school or middle school ministry site. The site leader will coach a team of adult ministry volunteers to develop personal relationships with lost teenagers that lead to life‑changing encounters with Jesus, through which life‑long followers of Christ are developed.
Scope:
Primarily, the Ministry Site Leader will coach his or her adult leadership team to accomplish its mission through activities and relationships with teens. The ministry leader will also invest time learning and aligning with best ministry practices, work with other YFC staff to mobilize new team members and, along with other team members, participate in personal ministry with teens.
Reports to:
Executive Director
- Learns how to lead effective ministry through regular supervision and online training sessions. (1 ½ hours per week)
- Develops and empowers ministry and task volunteers through team meetings and individual interactions. (1 hour per week)
- Prepares club activities and communicates roles and responsibilities to team members. (2 hours per week)
- Collects and records accurate ministry records and work logs. (½ hour per week)
- Submits bi‑monthly prayer requests and contributes to a quarterly support letter. (½ hour per week)
- Leads weekly club activities, maximizing the gifts and talents of ministry team members. (2 ½ hours per week)
- Conducts ministry personally with teens, working alongside volunteers and leading by example. (2 hours per week)
- (Optional, but encouraged) Participates in at least one off‑site YFC ministry retreat or conference.
- (Optional, but encouraged) Participates in a YFC New Cohort, which involves 2 in‑person retreats and 12 months of training with other participants online.
- Consistent and ongoing ministry takes place because a passionate leader with solid skills and character is focused on making sure action takes place.
- A growing number of teenagers are engaged in every part of the process, from first being met as a lost teen in school, to finally being a Christ‑follower connected to His Church, because of learning and implementing YFC's vision and plans.
- A team of adult ministry leaders are empowered to reach their potential in service to God and maximize the number of young people that are being brought into relationships with Jesus.
- Seek God's guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
- Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
- Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
- Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.
The Ministry Site Leader must first possess a vital relationship with Christ that is evidenced by prayer, strong character, and a passion to reach the lost. He/she must have strong leadership and communication abilities in order to lead a ministry team to reach lost teens. He/she must have a good understanding about teenagers and the culture in which they live.
