Position Specifics

Classical K‑6 teaching assistants will gain valuable classroom experience while supporting and working closely with a teacher in their assigned grade level(s). Successful candidates are coachable, highly organized, disciplined, and motivated. They will support teachers in routine administrative duties while learning how to manage a classroom, reinforce instruction, prepare materials and equipment, supervise students, and substitute teach.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the moral and intellectual environment of the school
  • Understand and adhere to the principles of classical education
  • Communicate verbally and in writing clearly, precisely, and grammatically
  • Assist teachers in ensuring students are respectful, attentive, and participatory
  • Be sensitive to problems as they develop and intervene immediately
  • Develop the intellect and personal character of each student to the utmost of their ability
  • Adhere to all ACA policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school policies
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance
  • Demonstrate initiative and effort
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance and speech
  • Assist with other duties assigned by the teacher or administration
