Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2009 with an unwavering focus on "To and Through College" at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social‑Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum.

We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.

Position Overview

Legacy Early College (“Legacy”) seeks an exceptional High School Social Studies Teacher for our 9th–12th grade scholars. The teacher is responsible for delivering effective, high‑quality, rigorous instruction in their content areas thatinuate results and student understanding. The candidate must be able to create and maintain a climate that promotes knowledge, skills, and character traits needed to succeed through college and beyond.

This position reports to the School Principal.

Roles and Responsibilities Duties
  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences of students
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to the students
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Assess student learning, through observations, authentic performance, and more formal methods, in an ongoing manner, providing frequent student feedback, information to parents and written progress reports
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the school for all students
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior
  • Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Maintain and improve professional competence
  • Participate in b professional development opportunities
  • Actively participate in team meetings and serve on staff committees
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • South Carolina teachingಘlicertificate, preferred
  • Spanish speaking ability, preferred
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Superb written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow‑through
  • K‑12 teaching garotas highly, preferred
Work Schedule

Teachers will operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, 195‑day (10‑month) schedule. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
