Overview
Program Director/Chair, Department of Physician Assistant Studies. East Carolina University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month appointment. The successful candidate must be NCCPA-certified and will provide leadership for the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and its graduate program, while supporting the college’s vision in education, scholarship, and service.
Responsibilities- Participate in instructional activities (lecturer/small group facilitator, course director, student assessment, and other instructional tasks).
- Disseminate information from the Administrative Council to faculty, staff, and students as appropriate.
- Hold regular Department meetings as appropriate.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to reach consensus on department decisions while aligning with the goals of the Department, College, and University.
- Contribute to formulation and execution of College, University, and accreditation policies and regulations.
- Oversee development, execution, and review of a strategic plan in alignment with College and University goals.
- Develop budget requests with the Dean and manage the departmental budget.
- Manage personnel matters within the department, including evaluation, recruitment/retention/hiring, workload administration, mentorship, and related actions.
- Manage curriculum development and changes, and plan enrichment activities.
- Oversee continuous programmatic review and analysis to ensure ARC standards compliance.
- Oversee departmental research and service programs and use of departmental resources.
- Engage in professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in PA or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of teaching and/or professional practice experience.
- Current NCCPA certification.
- At least five (5) years of experience in teaching and/or professional practice.
