We’re looking for a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to design and lead telecom systems for data‑center buildings, including structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems. The role requires mentoring junior team members, coordinating with cross‑disciplinary stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities- Lead the BIM designers in preparing engineering drawings.
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
- Mentor other team members.
- Work with the lead engineer and/or department manager to identify processes that improve departmental efficiency.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation.
- Serve as EoR for designs and provide coverage for project leads.
- May lead projects depending on bandwidth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing or leading telecommunications structured‑cabling systems.
- Proficient in ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 as it applies to telecom systems.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam.
- Strong project‑management skills and self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines.
- Experience responding to RFPs and checking the design quality of telecommunications systems.
- Experience in startup and commissioning of telecom systems.
- Ability to create and maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Experience mitigating company risk.
- PE license; ability to obtain multiple PE licenses (required).
- 4+ years of telecommunications design experience in data‑center environments.
- Experience with low‑voltage systems: security, audio/visual, wireless.
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software.
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls and security systems.
- Experience with CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
- Credential as an RCDD.
