Environmental Engineer, Water Engineer
HDR is looking for a Water / Wastewater Professional Engineer with experience in utility planning using hydraulic modeling to join our team of Engineers, Scientists and Project Managers to support projects for HDR clients in North Carolina and South Carolina. This position may be based out of HDR offices in Greenville (SC), Raleigh, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Asheville, or Wilmington (NC).

Responsibilities- Develop and calibrate water and wastewater hydraulic models, including model setup, data collection, calibration, and validation.
- Perform GIS data analysis, alternatives analysis, preliminary engineering, cost analysis, and capital project development.
- Engage with clients in project meetings and presentations, write reports, and develop proposal scopes with level of effort estimates.
- May include task-level responsibility for project teams, mentoring and quality assurance / quality control for hydraulic modeling and master planning projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
- Ability to make independent decisions and be accountable for results
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks
- Commitment to being an active participant of an employee-owned culture
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina
- MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in utility hydraulic modeling and infrastructure engineering design
- Knowledge and experience with wastewater collection systems and/or water distribution system hydraulic modeling software
- Willing to learn and grow technical and professional skills to meet client and market needs
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
- Prior experience leading teams, managing projects, and assisting with project budgeting
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, mapping and analysis
- Experience working for a public, municipal, or investor-owned water and/or wastewater utility, public works department, or engineering consulting firm
- Experience working with clients in North Carolina and South Carolina
- Local candidates are preferred
