Bridge EIT/Designer

HDR is looking for a Bridge EIT/Designer to join our SC Bridge and Structures Team in Charleston or any other SC office. This role supports bridge design and inspection projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer.

• Participate in bridge designs, develop design plans, perform structural load calculations and quantity takeoffs.
• Review shop drawings and field submittals.
• Support the bridge design group and other disciplines by applying structural engineering and detailing techniques.
• Perform other duties such as bridge inspection and construction observation as needed.

• EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of “Designer” and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
• MS Office, MathCAD and Microstation experience.
• Familiarity with MIDAS, STAAD, or LARSA and other general structural analysis programs is a plus.
• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
• New graduate candidates considered; additional bridge/structural design experience will also be considered.
• Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge inspection, roadway design, hydraulic analysis, construction services, environmental) within the office.
• Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and other DOT design guidelines is a plus.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, Midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, sp Column, STLBridge
  
  LRFD, or STLBridge.
• Bently Open Bridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
• Strong understanding and hands‑on use of computers for structural layout and design.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a multi‑disciplinary team environment on a wide range of projects.
• Preference given to local candidates.

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar.
