ControllerKey Responsibilities
- Prepare and ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements, if applicable.
- Coordinate the preparation of required regulatory filings, tax returns, and external audits.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, corporate credit cards, general ledger, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of accounting periods and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
- Implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate risks.
- Provide analysis and reports to support strategic planning, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to ensure integrity and security of financial data.
- Continuously review and improve financial and accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in integration of acquisitions into Courser Accounting function and manage rollout of Courser processes (i.e., credit cards) to the new entity.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Manage the preparation and coordination of annual audits, working with external auditors to ensure timely and successful completion.
- Oversee tax preparation and compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings, and working with tax advisors as necessary.
- Address audit findings and implement recommended changes to improve processes and controls.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to ensure high performance and accountability.
- Establish goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to support professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative work environment, encouraging continuous learning and process improvement.
- Manage and oversee accounting and financial systems, ensuring data accuracy and efficient workflows.
- Identify and implement technology solutions to automate processes and improve financial reporting capabilities.
- Work with IT and other departments to enhance systems that support accounting functions.
- Communicate financial results and insights to executive management, providing analysis and recommendations.
- Prepare financial presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including board members and investors.
- Serve as a key point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, bankers, and other external financial professionals.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred. - Experience:
8+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role in a company. - Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial data to non‑financial stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and developing teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
