About the Team:
The Printing Division team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by providing high-quality finished textbooks and related education products. The team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by maintaining high standards of efficiency and effectiveness while developing innovations that will improve our quality and operational capacity.

Role

Summary:

The Production Floor Manager oversees daily printing operations, ensuring efficient workflow, quality control, and adherence to safety and organizational standards. They lead and support press operators, coordinate scheduling, resolve operational issues, and drive continuous improvement through training, metrics tracking, and 5S initiatives. Success in this role requires strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills, along with relevant production experience, mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of printing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations on the production floor to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of printing jobs
  • Provide direct supervision, support, and coaching to press operators and production staff
  • Monitor quality control standards and ensure printed materials meet BJU Press specifications
  • Coordinate job assignments, shift schedules, and personnel coverage to maintain productivity
  • Lead and implement 5S workplace organization initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, and cleanliness
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, escalating concerns to management when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Assist in training new employees and reinforcing best practices among existing staff
  • Communicate effectively with team members, other departments, and leadership to maintain smooth operations
  • Track production metrics and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Other Duties and other shifts as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or coursework in printing or production management is a plus
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a printing, manufacturing, or production environment
  • Supervisory or team lead experience in a fast‑paced operational setting a plus
  • Working knowledge of printing equipment and processes, including offset and digital presses a plus
  • Familiarity with production scheduling, workflow coordination, and job tracking systems
  • Understanding of quality control standards and ability to inspect printed materials for accuracy and consistency
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and production software
  • Experience implementing 5S or other lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production specs, and safety documentation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for minor equipment issues
