Job SummaryThe position is in the Center for Integrative Oncology and Survivorship (CIOS) and the Center for Cancer Prevention and Wellness (CCPW) at the Cancer Institute. Main focus is on breast cancer prevention, cancer survivorship including managing a lifetime clinic, oncology rehabilitation after treatment and sexual health for cancer survivors.
Provides primary health care to a specific patient population within the guidelines of written protocols. Follows established nursing standards, procedures, and practices.
Accountabilities- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients. Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice. 28%
- Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation. 20%
- Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed; conducts patient assessments and provides physician with information prior to seeing the patient. 15%
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides education. 15%
- Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. 5%
- Promotes/provides staff education. 3%
- May supervise the activities of clinical nursing and support staff and mentor new Advanced Practitioners. 4%
- Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements. 4%
- Completes patient charge tickets. 2%
- Provides case management for oncology clients and their families. 2%
- Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials. 2%
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum EducationMaster's Degree-Nursing;
Nurse Practitioner Degree Emphasis or Program Certificate equivalent
1 year-Nursing experience
Required Certifications/Registrations/LicensesNURSE PRACTITIONER - NLNP
Specific Acceptable Credentials (if applicable)- South Carolina Official Recognition Nurse Practitioner
- Prescriptive Authority South Carolina Nursing License
- South Carolina Controlled Substance license;
Federal DEA license
- Oncology nursing experience - Preferred
- Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment - Preferred
- Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse - Preferred
