The Quality Technician is responsible for conducting testing procedures during manufacturing processes to ensure that products comply with quality standards. Quality technicians are involved in the entire course of manufacturing. They may inspect components before assembly, analyze trial products during development, or test finished goods. A quality technician needs to be able to spot product defects and pull flawed items from the line of production when necessary.

Job Responsibilities
  • Confirm and approve specifications of product in production
  • Record and analyze the results in order to decide whether to certify or reject specific products.
  • Utilize data from inspections to solve production issues and recommend improvements.
  • Other duties may include preparing inspection plans, training new technicians, and evaluating quality cost.
  • Visually identify quality changes in product;
    Ensure appropriate product quantity through measurement tests
  • Reject/ return unacceptable products; identify and recommend corrective actions for products
  • Document all inspection results and recommendations in detail;
    Ensure quality and accuracy of documentation
  • Follow and perform any written or verbal procedures set forth by supervisor and/or Quality Manager
  • Understand and adhere to all organizational and industry-related standards and safety procedures and expectations
Position Requirements /Qualifications
  • Successful candidate will be well-versed in the charcoal/firelog industry’s manufacturing standards, with an ability to speak the language of quality assurance through product knowledge and expectations.
  • She/ he will be able to easily identify product issues and be able act swiftly to help reduce waste.
  • Safety and quality will be of high importance to the best candidate.
  • Candidate must be able to communicate well with people on all levels of the organization and must be open to new responsibilities.
  • A proactive disposition and strong follow-through skills are highly desired.
Education
  • High school diploma/ GED required
  • Associate Degree in quality technology is a plus
Physical requirements and Work Environment
  • Sitting at workstation approximately 20% of work day
  • Standing/walking approximately 80% of work day
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
  • Normal office and manufacturing environments
