Morgan Steel, LLC is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Assembly Technician to support customer assembly projects and kitting operations. This role is responsible for assembling fabricated steel components, preparing kits per customer specifications, and ensuring all parts are complete, accurate, and ready for shipment or downstream production. The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & KittingAssemble steel components, subassemblies, and finished goods according to work orders, prints, and customer requirements.
Pull, stage, and kit materials accurately for customer‑specific projects.
Verify part counts, hardware, and components before assembly and kitting.
Label, package, and prepare assembled kits for shipment or internal use.
Inspect assembled parts and kits for accuracy, completeness, and workmanship.
Report missing, damaged, or non‑conforming materials to supervision.
Follow quality standards to ensure assemblies meet customer expectations.
Use forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, or carts to move materials and assemblies as required.
Maintain organized staging areas for kits and assembly jobs.
Assist with inventory accuracy related to assembly components and kits.
Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient assembly work area.
Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement efforts.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, warehouse, and production teams.
Assist other departments as needed to meet production and shipping deadlines.
Support training of new employees in assembly and kitting processes when assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or warehouse operations preferred.
Ability to read work orders, basic drawings, and assembly instructions.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verification.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in steel fabrication, metal assembly, or industrial kitting.
Forklift and/or overhead crane experience (or willingness to be trained).
Familiarity with hardware identification (bolts, nuts, washers, brackets).
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure.
