SENDCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
Location:
Greenwich, London
Pay Range:
Paid to scale (MPS/UPS + TLR/SEN allowance depending on experience)
Contract Type:
Full-Time, Temporary / Long-Term (to be agreed)
We’re seeking an experienced and strategic SENDCO to lead and develop high-quality provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across a vibrant primary school in Greenwich.
This role offers the opportunity to coordinate SEND practice, support inclusive classroom approaches, and make a significant difference to pupil outcomes.
About the Role – SENDCO
You will be responsible for the effective coordination of SEND provision throughout the school, ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive tailored support that enables them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with senior leaders, staff, families, and external professionals to drive inclusive practice and monitor impact.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND policy and provision
* Identify, assess, and coordinate provision for pupils with SEND
* Monitor progress and review the effectiveness of interventions and support plans
* Liaise with parents, external agencies, and local authority services
* Support and guide teaching staff to embed inclusive practice and high-quality differentiation
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including EHCP processes
Role Requirements – Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Hold, or be working towards, the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO / NPQ SEND) where required
* Have experience in SEN leadership or SEND coordination in a primary setting
* Demonstrate strong organisational and strategic planning skills
* Be confident liaising with families, staff, and external professionals
* Have up-to-date knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements
