Overview
SEMH Primary School Teaching Assistant opportunities are available across Greenwich. We are recruiting enthusiastic and committed Assistant Teachers / Classroom Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in mainstream primary schools, including those rated 'Good' and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
Roles Available- SEN Teaching Assistants (including SEMH-focused support)
- General Classroom Teaching Assistants (EYFS, KS1 & KS2)
- 1:1 Support Roles
- Small Group Intervention Support
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Primary schools across Greenwich
Pay: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time – 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH needs, including emotional regulation challenges, anxiety, ADHD, ASD, and associated behaviours.
- Support pupils with additional behavioural and social‑emotional needs.
- Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities.
- Deliver small group interventions, including social skills, anger management, and emotional literacy sessions.
- Support pupils across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
- Some roles will involve working closely with pupils with complex SEMH needs while others will focus on general classroom support across year groups.
- Previous experience working with children (school, care, youth work, coaching, or personal SEN/SEMH experience).
- Graduates welcome (experience in SEMH settings is a plus).
- Passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
- Patient, proactive, and adaptable.
- Committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Two years of references.
- Right to work in the UK.
Classroom Support is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check, covering the last two years, and other safeguarding checks in line with DfE Keeping Children Safe in Education.
