Are you an experienced SEND Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
?

We are looking for a confident, resilient and engaging SEND Teacher to work with students aged 12–16 in a specialist education setting in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who thrives on building positive relationships and helping young people re-engage with education.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students' individual needs and abilities.
  • Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning
    .
  • Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and SEND needs.
  • Establish clear routines, boundaries and expectations within the classroom.
  • Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to create a safe learning environment.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SEND professionals and pastoral staff.
  • Support students academically, socially and emotionally, helping them develop confidence and independence.
  • Follow individual EHCPs, behaviour plans and safeguarding procedures
    .
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience teaching or supporting young people with SEMH and SEND needs
    .
  • Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Is calm, patient and able to build trusting relationships with students aged 12–16.
  • Can adapt lessons for students working at different academic levels.
  • Understands trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to behaviour.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Holds QTS/QTLS or a relevant teaching qualification
    .
  • Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
