Senior Accountant

A well-established nonprofit organization in Greenwich, CT is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of the accounting function and working in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
• Analyze account activity and investigate variances or discrepancies
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Support the annual audit and provide schedules/documentation to external auditors
• Assist with grant, fund, and restricted revenue accounting
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with GAAP
• Help improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls
• Partner with leadership and other departments on accounting and financial matters
• Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting software
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
• Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus, but not required
• Experience with grants, restricted funds, or fund accounting is a plus

Compensation: $80,
