Overview

GH ED Physician, Nocturnist at Smilow Cancer Hospital (Greenwich Hospital, CT). Part‑time, 8‑hour night shifts 11p‑7a. Level III Trauma Center, 27 beds.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Duties
    • Rapid evaluation and stabilization of critical adult, pediatric, medical, surgical, gynecologic, obstetric, and trauma patients in all ED areas: main ED, Fast Track, and Behavioral Health Unit.
    • Resuscitation of acutely ill patients and administration of life‑support protocols.
  • Medical Leadership Duties
    • Serve as Physician In Charge (PIC); collaborate with charge nurse to manage patient flow and shift patients between areas to expedite care.
    • Handle administrative issues and communicate significant risks or concerns to the ED medical director.
  • Interrelationships & Administrative Duties
    • Collaborate collegially with private physicians, hospitalists, and residents; provide updates and obtain input for consultant referral and discharge planning.
Qualifications
  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited program.
  • Approved emergency medicine residency with board certification or eligibility.
  • Licensed MD in Connecticut and New York State with DEA controlled substance dispensing and Connecticut Department of Consumer Affairs permit.
  • Proficiency in EPIC EMR and departmental computer systems.
  • Background in basic and advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, basic life support, and pediatric advanced life support.
Physical Demands

The emergency department requires frequent task interruptions, multitasking, high patient volume, standing for 8 hours, walking, bending, stooping, lifting up to 300 lbs, basic life support and fine motor skills for procedures such as central line placement, thoracostomy, intubation, suturing, and splint application.
