The school offers a coed program for young children at the Barat Center for Early Childhood Education and then an all-girls experience from K-12 on our 110-acre campus in Greenwich, Connecticut. We are proudly part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Head of Lower School for the academic year with a July 1 start date.

The Assistant Head of Lower School plays a crucial role in supporting the Head of Lower School by overseeing daily activities and operations that are vital for creating a well-functioning educational environment. Key responsibilities of this position include managing day-to-day operations of the Lower School, mapping and implementing curriculum programs, assisting with student discipline matters, organizing school events and field trips, conducting faculty evaluations, aiding in the hiring process for new faculty and staff, etc.
By effectively assisting the Head of Lower School, the Assistant Head contributes to a positive school culture, enhances the educational experience for students, and ensures the smooth operation of Lower School programs.

- Enthusiastically interact with all members of the SHG school community, exhibiting flexibility in thought and action

- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all faculty and staff members
- Report directly to the Head of Lower School to oversee daily activities and responsibilities, offer constructive feedback, and foster ongoing communication
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence on campus, implementing an open-door policy to engage with faculty, parents, and students
- Collaborate with the Head of Lower School to develop annual schedules for all Lower School homerooms and specials teachers, as well as coordinate faculty duties (recess, car dismissal, bus, etc.)
- Assist the Head of Lower School in managing the daily operations of the school, including student arrival, faculty attendance, lunch, recess (indoor/outdoor), dismissal, and special activities
- Collaborate with the Business Office and other divisions to ensure proper and safe student placement during bus arrival and dismissal
- Address student discipline matters and facilitate parent communication regarding discipline issues beyond the classroom teacher's scope
- Co-facilitate division meetings on a regular basis
- Meet with grade-level teams and specials teachers to map curriculum by unit and ensure vertical alignment in the Barat - Grade 4 curricular outcomes
- Collaborate with faculty in other departments across-divisions to identify and develop opportunities for cross-disciplinary learning
- Lead research and discussion of best practices in teaching and learning
- Establish and ensures consistent assessment and feedback policies, consistent with Divisional and All School policies, but tailored to the specific needs of Lower School
- Observe classes and provides constructive, targetted feedback to teachers during the formal evaluation process
- Offer formative feedback on teaching and assessment practice beyond the formal evaluation process fostering a consistent vision for learning and collaboration among Lower School faculty
