Controller - Leading Alternative Investment Manager (Up to $500k TC)

We’re working with a high-quality alternative investment manager to appoint a Controller into a senior finance leadership role based in Greenwich.

This is a broad, hands‑on position with real authority: you’ll own the core financial engine, lead a capable team, and sit close to decision-makers. The firm is established, sophisticated, and growing — the role exists because the business wants to invest further in depth, control and leadership.

This is not a narrow reporting seat. You’ll be responsible for setting standards, running the close, and leading people, while continuously improving how the function operates.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing accounting team, setting tone, pace and expectations
• Take ownership of the monthly close, controls and reporting framework across multiple entities
• Act as a senior point of judgement on complex accounting matters, structure and consistency
• Drive improvements in process, systems and efficiency, without losing rigour
• Partner closely with senior finance leadership and adjacent teams across the business
• Be trusted with autonomy — this is a role for someone comfortable making decisions, not just executing them

Qualifications

• Strong technical foundations but commercial and pragmatic
• Enjoys managing and mentoring teams, not just reviewing output
• Comfortable in complex, multi‑entity environments
• Brings a mindset of continuous improvement, not "this is how it’s always been done"
• Can operate calmly in a fast‑moving, high‑expectation environment
• A CPA is expected
• Experience with in alternatives is important
