We’re seeking an Associate/Senior Fund Accountant to support the accounting and reporting functions for publicly traded investment vehicles, including a hybrid mortgage REIT and a CLO-focused registered closed‑end fund. Reporting to the Controller, this role offers hands‑on exposure to complex credit products, public reporting, and collaboration across accounting, tax, and investment teams.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reporting packages for publicly traded funds.
- Coordinate with third‑party administrators to maintain accurate books and records, reconciling administrator data to internal portfolio management systems.
- Assist with quarterly and annual financial statement preparation, including footnote disclosures.
- Perform balance sheet and P&L reconciliations related to loan portfolios and structured products.
- Partner with product accountants on complex securitizations and transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment and presentation.
- Maintain expense accruals, analyze budget‑to‑actuals, and coordinate expense allocations across strategies and vehicles.
- Support quarterly and annual investor and regulatory reporting (10‑Q, 10‑K, earnings releases, board materials).
- Assist with audit requests, investor relations inquiries, and ad‑hoc management reporting.
- Collaborate with the tax team on tax reporting, projections, and compliance support.
- 2+ years of Big 4 audit experience (mortgage REIT or fund clients) or fund accounting experience within mortgage REITs or hedge funds.
- CPA or parts passed preferred.
- Exposure to fixed income products, whole loans, MBS, derivatives, or structured credit is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of fund accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
