The Maternity Assistant Nurse Manager plays a key role in ensuring high‑quality, safe, reliable, and efficient patient care in the maternity department. This position collaborates with the Nurse Manager to model, motivate, and monitor performance using transformational leadership, structural empowerment, and innovative practices, all while aligning with YNHHS vision, mission, and values.

- Serve as the clinical leader for patient flow, ensuring safe and efficient patient placement in all care settings.
- Accountable for safe staffing levels and clinical competence, providing direct patient care as needed to maintain skill mix.
- Participate in unit strategies to promote financial performance and maintain the organization’s financial health.
- Model excellence in clinical practice, fostering a culture of safety and high‑quality care through regular rounding.
- Deliver patient‑ and family‑centered care (PFCC), uphold Service Excellence standards, and analyze trends to ensure staff adherence.
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school; bachelor’s in nursing preferred. ANM must have 10 contact hours annually; non‑degreed ANM must complete 6 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree and 6 contact hours annually.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years as a registered nurse in an acute‑care setting. Progressive leadership experience is desirable.
Licensure: Current Connecticut state RN license (or eligibility). Specialty certification preferred or obtainable within 18 months.
