The Controller will report directly to the VP of Accounting and perform various accounting duties including overseeing daily operations of the accounting team, assisting with accurate, timely financial reporting, audit all accounting processes, and recommending and implementing change management initiatives.
Base pay range$ – $ per year
Responsibilities- Accountable for the accounting operations of the company including production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department to achieve department goals and objectives.
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile corporate card programs, prepare monthly fixed asset entries, direct cost accruals and reconcile the general ledger.
- Assist in managing the monthly financial close process.
- Assist with reporting requirements for international entities.
- Acquire accounting related to strategic growth.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payments and cash receipts.
- Monitor cash management, including tracking and issuing virtual credit to our markets.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure department performance.
- Maintain chart of accounts and system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Prepare and issue timely and complete financial statements and other management reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, including KPI data.
- Provide financial analysis on monthly results to senior leadership.
- Coordinate annual information to external auditors and deliver on‑time audit and tax filings.
- Coordinate preparation of quarterly and annual external financial reports.
- Comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Assist Finance Team in financial analyses as needed, including capital investments, pricing models, and capital structure events.
- Monitor ongoing developments in accounting requirements and ensure continued compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain and improve documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Supervise and train all accounting support staff.
- 5–10 years relevant accounting experience with managerial experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; CPA designation preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros, formulas).
- Strong critical thinking with ability to interact with Senior Leadership.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
- Can manage difficult client/customer situations, excellent customer service skills.
- Responds promptly to customer and employee needs.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in work with excellent attention to detail.
- Can adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and handle frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Highly detailed and organized, with a sense of urgency and ownership.
- Prior hospitality industry and/or real estate experience is preferred, but not required.
