Ulteig is seeking to strengthen our Safety Program by adding a highly skilled and experienced Senior Safety Specialist to our growing team of engineers, project managers, and construction professionals! This position will report to the Safety Manager and provide safety support and guidance to our operating teams and construction projects across Ulteig’s geographies. This position will be responsible for helping our clients maintain compliance with project safety requirements in addition to applicable safety regulations.
What You Will Do
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Perform and document project site safety audits associated with our diverse projects. Where deficiencies are identified, assist in developing and implementing corrective actions to comply with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulations.
- Develop and lead safety training programs and workshops for employees and contractors to ensure a high level of safety awareness.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and assessments of office and construction projects to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Serve as a project safety liaison and interact with government inspectors regarding safety compliance issues.
- Assess project needs and hazards to identify program weaknesses and assist with the development of appropriate solutions.
- Assist in the investigation of safety incidents, near misses, and property damage.
- Proactively seek new ways to improve overall safety performance, build risk awareness, and promote employee well-being.
- Actively engage in and lead company safety committee initiatives by organizing meetings, fostering open communication among team members, and ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance and organizational safety goals.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulations, maintain certifications, and seek continuous avenues for department growth and improvement.
- Keep management informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect project operations.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for senior management and clients.
- Participate, coordinate, and manage other duties as requested by management.
What We Expect From You
- Bachelor's degree (.
A. or B.S.) required; safety or related field preferred; and minimum 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Broad experience with construction – road construction, renewables (wind, solar), electrical (substation, transmission) – preferred.
- Advanced Safety Certificate(s) (OHST, CHST, CSP) – a plus.
- OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500 preferred.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification preferred.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with coworkers, management of all levels, regulatory representatives, and clients. Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals.
- Must have good interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
- Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
