The Ash Group is hiring a Lead Data Engineer for our client (one of the largest private credit providers in the U.S. agricultural economy). This is a Hybrid 6-month contract role based in Greenwood Village, CO
.
Operating in a SAFe (Scaled Agile) environment, this lead-level position is centered on a critical technical migration: converting existing Postgres functions to MS SQL Server and optimizing enterprise-level stored procedures for maximum performance.
- Compensation: $80.00 per hour.

- Duration: 6-month contract (Potential for extension).

- Lead the Postgres to MS SQL Server conversion project, refactoring functions and logic to ensure parity and performance in the new environment.
- Analyze, design, and optimize complex T-SQL stored procedures and views, focusing on query execution plans and indexing strategies.
- Troubleshoot critical performance bottlenecks in production environments, managing locking, transactions, and isolation levels.
- Utilize performance monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and DMVs to proactively improve database health.
- Collaborate with application engineers to ensure database architecture supports scalable, high-performance financial applications.
- Document all database architecture changes, optimization strategies, and migration processes.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) and Postgres

Competency:
Proven expertise in query tuning
, execution plan analysis, and index optimization. - Technical Depth: Strong knowledge of SQL Server and Postgres internals (locking, transactions, and isolation levels).
- Migration
Skills:
Direct experience converting Postgres functions/logic into MS SQL Server environments is a top priority. - Tools: Proficiency with performance monitoring tools (Extended Events, SQL Profiler, DMVs).
- Nice-to-Have: Hands-on experience with AWS RDS
