Position Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic and operational financial leadership for a multi-store, multi-OEM automotive retail organization. This role is responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting oversight, treasury management, risk mitigation, OEM compliance, and M&A activities. The CFO ensures financial integrity, supports organizational growth, and provides clear direction to finance and accounting teams across multiple locations. The position requires the ability to manage complexity with patience, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute the organization’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.

• Lead long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling across all stores and business units.

• Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, ownership group, and executive leadership team.

• Establish financial policies, procedures, and internal controls that ensure accuracy and compliance.

Financial Reporting & Accounting Oversight

• Oversee consolidation and accuracy of financial statements across multiple rooftops, OEMs, and business entities.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, lender covenants, and OEM financial standards.

• Direct monthly closing activities, variance analyses, reconciliations, and management reporting.

• Maintain strong audit readiness and support both internal and external audits.

FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis)

• Lead development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.

• Provide monthly financial analysis, including trends, risks, opportunities, and operational insights.

• Partner with department and store leadership to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

• Establish and maintain standardized reporting dashboards and financial KPIs.

Mergers, Acquisitions & Integrations

• Lead financial due diligence, valuation modeling, and investment analysis for potential acquisitions or divestitures.

• Work cross-functionally with Legal, Operations, People Ops, IT, and Accounting teams to support integration planning.

• Ensure acquired entities transition smoothly into financial systems, processes, and reporting structures.

• Develop financial frameworks for capital allocation and growth planning.

Treasury, Cash Management & Risk Mitigation

• Manage banking relationships, cash flow, working capital, and financing strategies.

• Oversee floor plan utilization, inventory funding, and capital expenditure planning.

• Assess and mitigate financial risk through insurance, compliance controls, and proactive monitoring.

• Ensure appropriate safeguards for company assets and financial data.

OEM, Lender & Vendor Compliance

• Serve as the financial point of contact for multiple OEM partners, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

• Oversee OEM financial submissions, warranty audits, incentive programs, and certification requirements.

• Maintain strong relationships with lenders, auditors, and third-party financial partners.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and develop high-performing finance, accounting, and FP&A teams across multiple sites.

• Create clear organizational structures, workflows, and role responsibilities to support operational needs.

• Foster a culture of accuracy, patience, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and succession planning for key financial roles.

Required Skills &

Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of automotive retail financial operations (P&L management, DOCs, OEM incentives, floorplan, fixed/variable operations, etc.).
