Job Description

We are a justice-driven and entrepreneurial firm seeking a motivated and empathetic attorney to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about courtroom advocacy, client interaction, and developing versatile legal skills. The position offers a unique combination of high-impact Education Law litigation (representing families and employees) and Real Estate Law counsel (representing landlords).
We encourage applications from new attorneys with advocacy experience as well as those with up to five years of experience. Full training and mentorship are core to our firm's philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

• I. Advocacy and Education Law Litigation (Primary Focus)
  • Case Management:
    Handle all phases of litigation, including drafting filings, managing discovery, motion practice, and direct client communication, with the support of senior counsel.
  • Core Issues:
    Focus on representing families and employees against school districts in areas such as:
    • Special Education Law (IEP/504)
    • Employment Law (discrimination, retaliation)
    • High School Athletics issues
    • Civil Rights and First Amendment claims
    • Support for potential class action litigation against government entities.
  • Courtroom & Hearings:
    Attend evidentiary hearings, mediations, IEP/504 meetings, and actively seek court appearances.
• II. Real Estate and Business Counsel
  • Tax Disputes (Initial Emphasis):
    Manage property tax protests and valuations for our landlord portfolio.
  • Landlord Representation (Later Emphasis):
    Take on matters related to landlord/tenant disputes, unlawful detainer actions, and leasing issues.
  • Transactional Support:
    Review and draft commercial leases and various contract matters.
• III. Strategy and Drafting
  • Collaborate directly with the leadership team on litigation strategy, case valuation, and transactional problem-solving.
  • Prepare precise pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and demand letters utilizing established firm resources.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• Licensed to practice law in Colorado or eligible to waive in quickly.
• Required:
  
  A strong interest in going to court and engaging in client interaction.
• Highly Desired:
  Advocacy experience gained during law school (e.g., moot court, clinic work, mock trial, externships).
• Exceptional legal writing, meticulous attention to detail, and a committed client-first mindset.
• Possess the grit, empathy, and composure necessary to handle complex matters under pressure.
• Experience in litigation, education law, employment law, or real estate is a plus, but not required.

Compensation

• Experienced: $75,000 - $95,000/yr
• New/Entry-Level: $65,000 - $80,000/yr
