Job Description
The Quality Engineer, as a key member of the Plant Quality team, focuses on improving the Customer experience through product quality improvement initiatives. The role leads systematic problem‑solving efforts in collaboration with Operations, Process Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and R&D functions. This position requires the ability to follow a structured problem‑solving format, make data‑driven decisions, implement solutions, and sustain results. The individual will enhance the quality management system by ensuring all standards are followed and by defining new standards where needed.
A successful candidate will have strong problem‑solving skills with a customer‑centric mindset.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead quality projects to support the plant quality strategy, improving and reducing customer claims and internal losses.
- Provide daily quality support to the Finishing and Coating teams through internal quality issue investigations and product disposition. Lead cross‑functional teams through the investigation of internal quality issues, execute containment plans, and address root causes.
- Lead customer quality problem‑solving from investigation, hypothesis evaluation, root cause analysis, and robust solution implementation. Report progress to stakeholders with clear communication on status, findings, and next steps. Include customer visits and calls; provide corrective action plans as needed.
- Initiate supplier quality claims through the SCAR process, provide required samples and data to suppliers, and collaborate with operations, suppliers, and the Divisional team for root cause analysis. Lead supplier calls as needed and update stakeholders on progress.
- Work with Procurement, Marketing, R&D, and Process Engineering to develop and qualify new raw suppliers and report any concerns impacting quality.
- Support site audit preparation for ISO 9001‑2015 Internal & External, customer audits, and assigned audit findings, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Create, maintain, and release standard operating procedures, work instructions, and controlled documentation through the AODocs QMS system; complete document reviews per review period.
- Maintain and improve quality metrics reporting tools.
- Participate in the Plant MDI & MWI process and support quality‑related actions.
- Work to improve quality management systems as required.
- Perform other tasks or project work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in Quality or technical fields.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to connect and influence at all levels.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience handling multiple responsibilities with minimal direction.
- High degree of accuracy, time management, and priority‑setting skills.
- Data analytics for decision‑making and problem‑solving.
- Actively seeks knowledge, skills, and experience to grow and develop.
- Schedule flexibility to support operations as needed.
- Previous Quality or Process Engineering experience preferred.
- Understanding of applicable software and systems such as Google Platforms, Microsoft Office, and function‑specific software (EBS, Oracle, Minitab).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001‑2015 preferred.
- Six Sigma training or certification preferred.
