Job Responsibilities
The occupational therapy assistant instructor/academic field work coordinator ensures compliance with section C of the ACOTE Standards, stays current with best practices, and models leadership. Responsibilities include teaching the OTA curriculum, assessing learning outcomes, recruiting and advising students, supporting the program's academic mission, and overseeing all aspects of fieldwork within the OTA program. Responsible for providing healthcare students with quality clinical, lab, and preceptor opportunities.
Minimumand Additional Requirements
Faculty teaching Occupational Therapy Assistant associate degree courses not designed for transfer to the baccalaureate degree: bachelor's degree or higher or associate's degree and current enrollment in an accredited bachelor or master degree program and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Must be a licensed or eligible for licensure in South Carolina as a COTA or OTR. Degree must be awarded by an institution that is accredited.

- Licensure: licensed or eligible for licensure in South Carolina as a COTA or OTR. Degree must be awarded by an institution that is accredited.
- Proven ability to teach and/or leadership experience in the physical disability, adult orthopedics, or mental health fields related to Occupational Therapy practice.
- Knowledge of community/technical colleges (higher ed principles/procedures), broad content area knowledge, standard business practices & accepted protocol for the area of responsibility, basic computer proficiency, leadership & organizational skills, effective communication skills (written/verbal), program assessment, commitment to teaching & learning process & commitment to the college mission.
