The Budget Manager manages the University and State budgetary process and is responsible for institutional financial and budget reporting for Lander University. Analyzes data, reconciles, and prepares financial reports and analysis and assists the Division of Finance and Administration with state, federal, and agency requirements. Prepares and responds to reports/surveys as needed. Operates as a back-up to the payroll functions while regularly completing payroll related tasks.
Performs other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field is required. At least 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial management, preferably in higher education or the public sector. Advanced proficiency with budgeting software and ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills are required. A valid driver’s license and safe driving history are also required. Must have strong skills in providing excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics.
Should possess a thorough knowledge of budgeting principals, practices and data analysis. Must have ability to analyze and interpret complex budgeting, auditing and financial data. Must have a thorough knowledge of state and federal government fiscal accounting processes and an understanding of payroll rules and regulations. Will operate as a back up to the Payroll Manager. Strong attention to accuracy, detail, and deadlines.
Ability to create detailed reporting, analyze and interpret related financial data with emphasis on confidentiality. Strong customer service. Ability to communicate effectively be a team player.
