District Interpreter/TranslatorThe Interpreter/Translator Assistant supports students, families, and school staff by providing accurate oral interpretation and written translation between English and Spanish. The position helps ensure meaningful communication, equitable access to educational programs, >= and compliance with state and federal requirements for multilingual learners and families.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Provide oral interpretation between English and Spanish
- Parent‑teacher conferences
- IEP and 504 meetings
- School events, orientations, and disciplinary meetings
- Classroom instruction and student support services (as assigned)
- IGP meetings
- Provide written translation of school‑related documents, including
- Notices, letters, and forms
- Educational materials and reports
- Parent communications and school publications
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
- Assist school staff in communicating effectively with multilingual students and families.
- Support students and families by clarifying instructions and school procedures.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to meet student and family communication needs.
- Assist with school enrollment procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of interpretation and translation services provided.
- Follow ethical standards and best practices for interpretation and translation.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Completion of the required training and testing for language proficiency as outlined by state guidelines.
- Ability to interpret and translate accurately and impartially.
- Strongয়ার interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Sixty semester hours of postsecondary work or an associate’s degree; or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Test.
- Associate’s degree or higher.
- Prior experience as an perangkat or translator in an educational or public service setting.
- Certification in interpretation/translation.
- Understanding of educational terminology and school operations.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and neutrality.
- Effective time management and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Work is primarily performed in school and office settings.
- Will require travel between school sites with personal vehicle.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate for extended periods.
- May require evening hours for some school events.
