Summary of Duties
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operations within the assigned sub-department or across all shifts. This role ensures consistent production, quality, and safety standards while providing leadership, training, and accountability for employees. The Shift Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for daily operations in their sub-department and supports department-wide initiatives.
Job Duties Include (but not limited to)- Lead, train, and coach employees in the assigned sub-department across all shifts.
- Ensure daily/weekly production, safety, quality, and efficiency targets are consistently met.
- Follow production schedules and coordinate work according to priorities, report obstacles or projected delays to Department Supervisor.
- Monitor employee attendance, performance, and compliance with policies; provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action as needed.
- Work with Training Specialist to maintain accurate training records and ensure employees are cross trained.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day operational issues, escalating when appropriate.
- Randomly inspect the quality of work produced by employees in your area.
- Track and report sub-department KPIs to Department Supervisor.
- Lead initiatives within your department to improve workflow and support 5S methodologies.
- Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and timely, making corrections if necessary.
- Reinforce company culture by promoting teamwork, accountability, and respect.
- Support department-wide projects, continuous improvement efforts, and cross-department collaboration as directed.
Job Requirements (but not limited to)
- Prior supervisory experience in manufacturing, production, or similar environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Solid knowledge of sub-department processes, equipment, and SOPs.
- Ability to analyze performance data and implement corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to coach employees fairly and consistently.
- Must be able to work well with little or no supervision and exercise reasonable judgement independently.
- Ability to work different shifts and overtime within the department as needed.
- Reading and understanding basic programming to make minor changes at machine centers, as necessary.
- Understand, build, and train on types of tools and tooling at machine centers.
- Ability to use measuring instruments, gauges, and test equipment and to become proficient in their utilization.
- Have blueprint reading knowledge and understanding blueprint specifications or ability to learn.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality System requirements.
- Requires walking, standing, stooping, and bending at least 50% of the time.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
