ILJIN America is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Assistant to support biweekly and monthly payroll processing at our automotive parts manufacturing facility.
The primary responsibilities include reviewing and verifying employee timecards, resolving timekeeping discrepancies, entering new employees into payroll and timekeeping systems, maintaining payroll data, and organizing payroll-related documentation.
Previous payroll experience is preferred but not required. Direct, hands‑on training will be provided. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, willing to learn, and able to handle confidential employee information professionally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Review and verify employee timecards for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify missing punches, incorrect hours, and other timekeeping discrepancies.
- Communicate with employees and supervisors to resolve timecard issues.
- Enter new employees into payroll and timekeeping systems.
- Update employee information, pay rates, deductions, departments, shifts, and employment status.
- Assist with biweekly and monthly payroll processing.
- Verify regular hours, overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, paid time off, and attendance records.
- Maintain accurate payroll data, employee records, and supporting documentation.
- Organize and securely store timecards, payroll reports, employee change forms, and other payroll‑related documents.
- Update electronic and paper records when employee information changes.
- Review payroll documents for accuracy, completeness, and required approvals.
- Assist with payroll deductions, garnishments, tax forms, and benefit‑related payroll entries.
- Respond to employee questions regarding paychecks, timecards, deductions, and paid time off.
- Prepare payroll reports and supporting documents for management, Accounting, internal reviews, and external audits.
- Assist with new-hire, employee‑change, and termination documentation.
- Follow company record‑retention, data‑security, and confidentiality requirements.
- Perform other payroll, administrative, and HR duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Payroll, accounting, human resources, or administrative experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic computer and data‑entry skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general office software is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness and ability to learn payroll and timekeeping procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidential employee and payroll information.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to meet payroll deadlines in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Payroll or administrative experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with payroll/timekeeping system.
- Bilingual English and Korean or English and Spanish skills are a plus.
