Radiology Tech; RAD Tech-Urgent Care-Greer PRN

Overview

Radiology Tech (RAD Tech)-Urgent Care-Greer PRN at Bon Secours Mercy Health. The X-Ray Technician performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The X-Ray Technician is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider.

• Safely performs provider ordered radiographic examinations, including but not limited to proper patient positioning, immobilization, and utilizing appropriate radiation protection.
• Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism.
• Accurately documents patient encounters within Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment.
• Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs. May collect patient specimens and run point of care lab tests. Travel to other facilities for providers or adjusting work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be required.
• Directs and practices sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination of disease.
• Reports immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment to supervisor.
• Other duties include but not limited to ordering supplies, lab and diagnostic tests, disposes of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as needed basis.

• Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) required.
• State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is performed).
• BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care) required.

• Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited program (preferred).

• 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).
• Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred).
• EPIC EHR and PACS experience (preferred).
• Medical terminology and ability to use standard office equipment (required).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with patients, families and teams in a high-volume environment (preferred).
• Ability to assess patient age-related requirements and provide age-appropriate care per departmental policies.
