Job Description
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) supports electronic repair operations by providing advanced technical expertise, process guidance, and oversight training. This role serves as a technical authority for repair workmanship standards, ESD and soldering programs, and technician capability development. The SME also provides defined technical support to Value-Added Services (VAS) Late Configuration Camera activities and Corrective Action Request (CAR) rework impacting both ASA and VAS.
This is a technical support and oversight role, not a production or supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a technical authority for ASA repair and rework processes.
- Develop, maintain, and improve repair work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and escalation support for complex repair and rework issues.
- Own and maintain ESD and soldering standards and training programs.
- Deliver structured technical training for repair technicians.
- Support corrective actions and rework activities related to CARs across ASA and VAS.
- Provide technical support to VAS Late Configuration Camera processes, limited to guidance, interpretation, and defect resolution.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, and Engineering to improve workmanship consistency, reduce rework, and support compliance.
- Provides technical guidance and oversight only; does not own production execution or scheduling.
- Does not perform inspection sign-off, product release, or return-to-service authority unless separately delegated.
- Does not have direct supervisory responsibility.
- A highly technical, non-production role with broad influence across repair and rework operations.
- Opportunity to shape workmanship standards, training programs, and process improvements.
- Collaboration with cross-functional engineering, quality, and operations teams.
- Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology required, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics or aftermarket repair environments.
- Strong knowledge of ESD controls and soldering best practices required.
- IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or equivalent solder certification strongly preferred.
- Trainer certification preferred, or attainable within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to create technical documentation and deliver hands-on training required.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills required.
- Occasional domestic or international travel may be required.
Additional Information
The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000-$120,000 annually. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.
