Job Summary: The Skilled Laborer supports skilled craft personnel by assisting with essential construction tasks required to successfully complete projects. This role involves the safe operation of hand tools and power tools, rigging duties for crane and forklift operations, and deck hand responsibilities such as working on or near water, tying off dock lines, and operating small vessels, including crew boats.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of tool use, follow safety procedures, and preferably have experience with rigging or marine operations. This position is for a project based in Columbia, SC.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Experience and proficiency with standard laborer tools (e.g., sledgehammers, shovels, brooms, vacuums, pressure washers, general hand tools)
- Boat operation and barge experience preferred
- Carpentry skills preferred
- Prior general/skilled labor experience a plus
- Concrete experience preferred
- Experience rigging for cranes and forklifts
- Honest, trustworthy, dependable

- Operate and care for construction equipment and machines
- Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards
- Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools as per project plans
- Measure, mark, or record openings or distances for layout
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and prepare ground to grade specifications
- Mix, pour, or spread concrete with portable mixers
- Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools and equipment
- Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, barricades, ramps, or temporary structures
- Sweep and clean the project site
- Carry lumber and supplies to Carpenters
- Help carpenters assemble concrete forms
- Assist welders when needed
- Work with cranes and rigging
- Act as signal person for equipment operators
- Chip, paint, sweep, and wash down equipment
- Secure work area to limit access to authorized personnel
- Load and unload materials from deck barges and equipment
- Provide assistance to craft workers (carpenters, plasterers, masons)
- Performs other duties as required
- Field work in all weather conditions
- Physical activities including climbing, lifting up to 75 pounds, and handling materials
- Ability to tolerate vibrations, heat, and high noise levels
- Ability to work around heavy equipment/marine facilities
- Willingness to wear required PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, PFDs, respirators, etc.)
Hourly Rates: $25-$45 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience.
