Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Field/Service Technician
Shop Mechanic – Rogers Group Inc.
Location:
Greer, SC (South Carolina). This is a full‑time, day shift position that may require night shift, weekend work, and travel to other plants in the surrounding area.
Rogers Group is seeking a mechanic to perform repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on a wide variety of asphalt‑related construction equipment and dump trucks. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of service issues affecting major components such as engines, brake systems, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive trains, heating/cooling, electrical systems, and other industry‑specific systems.
Responsibilities- Inspect machines for abnormalities or defects.
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance on construction equipment and dump trucks.
- Perform on‑site and in‑field maintenance and repairs on paving equipment when needed.
- Complete maintenance and work order repair records.
- Weld and fabricate as required.
- Familiarize with heavy equipment parts, parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost considerations.
- Maintain housekeeping duties and conduct work area checks.
- Operate mobile equipment and a company vehicle on public highways and job sites.
- Work independently with limited supervision, schedule own work, and manage workload.
- Perform DOT Annual Inspections (preferred).
- Stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift up to 70 lbs.
- Climb and work at heights up to 20 feet.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.
- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence and ability to perform all duties under DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working on construction equipment and on‑road trucks.
- Valid Class B CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsement is a plus, but not required.
- Experience with DOT Annual Inspections is preferred.
- Weekend work and overtime may be required.
