Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team. The ideal candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliable operation of production equipment, building systems, and support utilities. This role emphasizes troubleshooting, hands-on mechanical and electrical repairs, and participation in continuous improvement and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery, HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to maximize equipment uptime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), instrumentation, and control panels.
• Program, troubleshoot and maintain PLCs and related automation components to support production processes.
• Inspect, repair and align bearings, belts, chain drives, conveyor systems, pumps, valves and rigging/hoisting equipment.
• Perform welding (MIG/TIG), soldering and brazing, plumbing, and general fabrication tasks as required.
• Use CMMS (e.g., Maximo, SAP, Infor) to create, track and close work orders and document maintenance activities.
• Conduct predictive maintenance activities including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and lubrication practices to identify root causes and prevent failures.
• Follow lockout-tagout procedures, OSHA safety standards and facility-specific safety programs; maintain a clean and compliant work area.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics to support repairs and modifications.
• Operate hand and power tools, forklifts and test equipment such as multimeters and portable analyzers safely and effectively.
• Assist with electrical wiring, panel work and installation of new equipment, ensuring code-compliant workmanship.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending upgrades, spares, and process changes to improve reliability and reduce costs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial or commercial maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven skills in preventive maintenance, mechanical repair and electrical troubleshooting.
• Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming and motor control systems.
• Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs), instrumentation, calibration and test equipment (multimeter, analyzers).
• Practical welding experience (MIG/TIG), soldering, brazing and basic fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of conveyors, pumps, valves, belt and chain drives, bearings and alignment techniques.
• Proficiency with CMMS (Maximo, SAP or Infor) and basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
• Strong understanding of lockout-tagout, OSHA safety compliance, and safe forklift operation.
• Experience in predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis and infrared thermography is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
• Valid drivers license; certifications (e.g., OSHA, forklift, HVAC/refrigeration, electrical) a plus.
