Paralegal

St. George’s University invites applicants for the position of Paralegal within the Office of the President.

Special note to applicants:

Objective

The Paralegal provides essential support to the University Counsel and Accreditation Liaison Officer. The paralegal organizes, edits, and tracks all academic legal documents and accreditation submissions, ensuring version control, deadline adherence, and regulatory compliance. It is both a documentation specialist and a liaison across academic units, helping faculty authors translate content into accreditation-ready formats.

Essential Functions Document Management
  • Maintain and organize academic policy documents, including handbooks, bylaws, and appeal templates.
  • Coordinate annual review cycles.
  • Assist in drafting and editing revisions under legal supervision.
  • Track and archive academic decision letters and correspondence in line with records-retention policies.
Accreditation Support
  • Help compile self-study reports, evidence tables, and faculty documentation.
  • Monitor submission timelines and coordinate with academic units to meet deadlines.
  • Support meeting logistics for accreditation committees (e.g., agendas, minutes, exhibits).
Research & Compliance Support
  • Conduct basic legal and regulatory research related to accreditation and academic policies.
  • Prepare briefing notes and comparative tables for review by legal counsel.
Stakeholder Assistance
  • Serve as a resource to faculty and staff on document templates and formatting standards.
  • Coordinate signatures, notarizations, and document authentications as needed.
Qualifications
  • Paralegal certificate or bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework.
  • 2+ years of experience in a legal, compliance, or documentation-focused role.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and document management tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes or academic documentation preferred.
  • Experience working in a university or regulatory environment.
  • Notary Public commission or willingness to obtain one.
Work Environment/Physical Demands

This position is an office position where we can otherwise describe it as a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to twenty pounds.

The ability to maintain good concentration while dealing with interruptions.

Hours and Travel
  • A typical work week is 40 hours Monday through Friday, with flexible start, lunch break and end of day.
  • Travel may be required in this position.
  • Weekend work will be as required.
