What Drives Success

The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence across manufacturing processes with a heavy focus on scrap reduction
, cycle count variance reduction
, process optimization
, and root cause problem solving
. This role leads cross-functional initiatives, sponsors A3 improvement projects, and ensures that production systems, controls, and programming are optimized for safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

Scrap Reduction & Process Optimization

  • Lead targeted scrap-reduction initiatives with a strong emphasis on scrap factor accuracy, and waste elimination.
  • Analyze and track scrap trends, identify systemic issues, and implement corrective actions to reduce material loss.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance to optimize setups, tooling, programming, and machine controls.
  • Develop and maintain process standards that reduce variation and improve first-pass yield.

Cycle Count Variance & Inventory Accuracy

  • Support the root cause analysis and corrective action process for cycle count variances related to machine scrap and scrap factors.
  • Implement controls, audits, and process improvements to prevent reoccurrence of inventory discrepancies. (Machine focus and Software programs)
  • Drive accountability for material flow, BOM accuracy, routings, and scrap reporting.

Engineering & Machine Support

  • Evaluate and optimize machine programs, setups, and process parameters to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering to ensure machine capability aligns with production volume, tolerance, and capabilities.
  • Support new product introductions by validating routing, cycle times, and material usage factors (Scrap Factors at site introduction).
  • Lead root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, and PFMEA.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Engineering to align improvement priorities.
  • Communicate findings, project status, and improvement results to leadership.
  • Build strong relationships across the plant to influence change and sustain improvements.

What We Are Looking For
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 8 years related experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have expertise with a broad toolbox of statistical skills for modeling and prediction.
  • Requires broad understanding of process best practices and barriers to implementation.
  • Demonstrates strong financial acumen and understanding of the value chain.
  • Requires very strong data and business information skills including Excel, Access, SQL database and related skills.
  • Must have strong customer service and relational skills.
