Job Description

The Machine Technician 1 is responsible for manufacturing products by operating and maintaining equipment and processes to ensure optimal customer service. This entry-level position involves enhancing safety, quality, and productivity within the department, as well as assisting the Facilitator as needed.

This role requires knowledge and implementation of all area-specific compliance issues, including safety, quality, environmental policies, and plant regulations. The technician will participate in continuous improvement projects and work with maintenance to complete monthly preventive maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all safety requirements in the work area.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards according to policies and schedules.
  • Understand and use all gauges in the cell.
  • Understand tolerances and make machine offsets to stay within specifications.
  • Utilize quality tools such as SPC and OEE.
  • Operate at least one machine efficiently (85% or better).
  • Perform changeovers following procedures promptly.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, including automated operations, controls, and sensors.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance and update schedules.
  • Complete routine inspections and documentation.
  • Perform minor repairs and provide feedback to maintenance and supervisors.
  • Report issues requiring attention to supervisors or managers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance processes, productivity, and quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including working other shifts if necessary.
  • Adhere to 5S standards in the department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, and OMS.
  • Proficiency with inspection and test equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or a technical field at Milwaukee Tool or similar employer.
