About the RoleMWH Constructors are seeking a Tunneling Superintendent to support a $300m large-diameter water pipeline project for our water and wastewater infrastructure project located in Gresham, OR. This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow technical and leadership skills by working closely with senior engineers, construction managers, and subcontractors on large-scale municipal construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily field oversight of tunneling work (excavation, ground support, waterproofing, lining, TBM operations).
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety plans, confined space procedures, ventilation, and OSHA requirements.
- Track daily progress, TBM performance, production rates, and schedule impacts.
- Verify work follows contract documents, specifications, drawings, and approved submittals.
- Observe QA/QC activities, testing, and installation of ground support and tunnel systems.
- Document activities through daily reports, photos, logs, and issue tracking.
- Participate in coordination meetings and communicate field issues to the CM team.
- Support review of quantities, pay applications, changes, and contract compliance.
- 10+ years of tunneling or underground construction experience (TBM or conventional).
- Strong understanding of tunnel safety, ground behavior, instrumentation, and QA/QC practices.
- Ability to read plans, specs, shop drawings, and geotechnical reports.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work under the weather.
- OSHA 30, Confined Space/Competent Person, First Aid/CPR.
- Anticipated salary range is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, based on experience.
