Ski/Snowboard Instructors – Flying M’s, Adult Classes, Private Lessons
MAC Ski & Snowboard is searching for experienced and certified ski and snowboard professionals for its seasonal group learning program, the Flying M’s. The program provides children ages 4–14 with a comprehensive and enjoyable learning experience, focusing on fundamental skill development. Instructors work with a small group of students of similar age and ability level over 12 sessions from January through mid‑March, including a 3‑day holiday camp (December 27–29).
Instructors report directly to the Lead Instructor and the Program Director.
In addition to teaching in the season‑long youth program, instructors may create relationships with MAC members and promote private lessons, earning commission at industry‑leading private training rates. S3 and above instructors are also eligible for assignment to adult classes and programs.
Qualifications- Current professional certification from PSIA‑AASI, or US ski and snowboard; or an experienced background in ski/snowboard instruction and/or coaching.
- Professional instruction experience through a school or club team preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate professionally and effectively.
- Demonstrated effective planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated technological proficiency, including a working knowledge of computer applications and smartphone applications (e.g., email communication, Microsoft Office, Dayforce App for employee self‑management, and Team Snap platform for scheduling and communication).
Ski/snowboard instructor pay is based on candidate experience and professional certifications, according to MAC’s Instructor Priority Status. Instructors’ wage and private‑lesson percentage are tied to their Status. Status levels:
S4 – Entry Level ($18–20/hr, PT rate 62 %);
S3 – Certified Instructor ($21–24/hr, PT rate 63–64 %);
S2 – Senior Instructor ($25–29/hr, PT rate 65–66 %);
S1 – Elite/Trainer ($30–36/hr, PT rate 67 %). All instructors earn a free season pass to Mt. Hood Meadows, receive employee discounts at restaurants and shops, including a $3.50 employee lunch program, and enjoy the use of the world‑class athletic club during their working season.
