Job SummaryProvides quality instruction that will contribute to the learning experiences necessary for each student to meet the objectives of the course and to be successful in both their education and career development experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Instruct students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate.
- Provide student contact before or after class or through telephone or email exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
- Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate; incorporate the latest classroom technology when available into instructional activities.
- Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with overall program objectives; prepare clear objectives for students each course. Maintain and revise curriculum to maintain currency.
- Understand, develop, and provide a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the College community.
- Maintain classroom, laboratory, and departmental equipment and provide security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.
- Understand and abide by College policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the College, departments or divisions.
- Convene classes on time and as scheduled.
- Maintain evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enter grades and provide all necessary documentation for in completes within established College timelines.
- Ensure and emphasize safe working and classroom conditions and practices.
- May participate in professional development activities.
- Maintain current licenses or certificates in areas of expertise.
- May attend in-service sessions and division meetings.
- May direct aides and work‑study students as assigned.
- Understand and use the College's computer system.
Associate's degree.
Experience / Training- Minimum 5 years of industry work experience in industrial maintenance, automation, machine design, manufacturing engineering or related field.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- Teaching experience, preferably at the community college level.
- FANUC handling tool and 2D iRvision certification.
- Journeyman electrician's license.
- Rockwell Automation PLC programming experience.
- Experience teaching hybrid or online courses.
- Experience building and maintaining manufacturing industry equipment.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with different abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the role and purpose of community colleges.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Comfortable using remote learning technologies, such as Zoom, LMS, Teams, etc.
Work is typically performed in a normal office environment and classroom setting.
Salary PlacementInitial salary placement for Instructional Load Credit (ILC) Instructors will be based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full‑time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. Initial salary placement for all other newly hired instructors will be at Level
1.
